Location: Near Ledbury, Tewkesbury and Malvern. 30 minutes from Cheltenham Spa and Gloucester.
Main House: Seven bedrooms, five bathrooms sleeping 14-18 guests.
Additional accommodation in a wing of the house (annexe) can sleep a further four people.
A separate cottage, only walking distance of 50 metres away, can sleep four people.
Total sleeping capacity: up to 26 guests. Perfect for birthday parties, weddings, family celebrations and friend’s get-togethers.

The property is set in its own 20 acres and has a hard surface tennis court. There are numerous public footpaths straight from the door but for the more adventurous May Hill and the Malverns are nearby.

Situated in an elevated position looking out over the Leadon Valley, this magical house, which is believed to be the birthplace of Dick Whittington, is full of history and wonder. It is surrounded by beautiful gardens and has incredible views over the farmland and beyond. It is simply a wonderful and tranquil place to stay to escape the world and enjoy a very special time with your friends and family. John Masefield the Poet Laureate described it as “a place of great strangeness and beauty”.

Accommodation…

This house is a much loved family home, full of charm and character. The kitchen can seat 18 people with an aga, a miele oven and ceramic hob and a walk in larder plus two large fridges. There is a panelled room which boasts an enormous open fireplace and three large sofas and a separate bar off it leading through to the snug sitting room with 54 inch flat screen Sony television and an Xbox One and a large woodburner. The elegant dining room has an open fire, grand piano and room to seat 26 people. There is a Cambridge amplifier and speakers with docking connector lead for apple devices. The main house has free wi-fi throughout.

All of the bedrooms are luxurious and comfortable and the bathrooms are modern and stylish.

Accommodation details in the Main House:
Bedroom 1: The Owl and the Pussycat – super king bed with outstanding views over the sunken garden and beyond with en-suite bathroom which has a freestanding bath and walk in shower and under-floor heating. Flat screen television.

Bedroom 2: The Dick Whittington – super king bed (which can be split into two singles) and en-suite bathroom with walk in shower. Flat screen television.

Bedroom 3: The John Masefield – super king bed (which can be split into two singles) and en-suite bathroom with shower over a bath and under-floor heating. Flat screen television.

Bedroom 4: The Wayfarer – large bedroom with king size bed and a single 3ft bed and use of a bathroom opposite on the landing which has a hand held shower over a large bath. Flat screen television.

Bedroom 5: Somerset – king size bed with an extra single bed and use of bathroom opposite on the landing (shared with The Wayfarer)

Bedroom 6: Ricardo – king size bed with extra single and further sofa single bed if needed

Bedroom 7: Stokes – queen size bed and a single bed

Both Bedroom 6 and 7 share a bathroom with a built-in shower over a bath

There is a downstairs loo.

Annexe of the Main House
For additional accommodation: upstairs there is a large bedroom with a super king sized bed (which can be made into two singles) and a bathroom with walk in shower and large freestanding bath with under-floor heating. Downstairs in the sitting room is a sofa bed to sleep two people and a separate downstairs loo. The annexe has its own separate kitchen. French doors out onto sunken garden. Flat screen television and DVD player. Sound system with blue tooth. Separate free wi-fi.

The Cottage
This holiday let has two super king sized beds (both can be split into two singles), both have en-suite bathrooms with walk-in showers and the top bedroom also has a freestanding bath in the bedroom. It is arranged over three floors and the middle floor has a kitchen and sitting room. Flat screen television and Blue Ray DVD player. Sound system with blue tooth. Separate free wi-fi.

Nearby Activities

Near Newent in Gloucestershire, M50 is 20 minutes away.
Cheltenham is 30 minutes away.

Garden lovers should visit Sir Roy Strong’s The Laskett Garden, the finest formal garden to be laid out since the last war. Have lunch at the Butcher’s Arms Woolhope, which has an excellent reputation for food and real ale.

Walkers have easy access to The Malverns, over 3,000 acres in which to walk.

The Three Counties Showground hosts an annual gardening weekend in the Spring and its Royal Three Counties Show in June is very popular. There are further shows and events throughout the year.

Theatre goers will enjoy the Malvern Theatre’s programme and the Everyman in Cheltenham. Hellens, a manor house in Much Marcle has some lovely classical events in magical surroundings.

Foodies should experience dinner at The Butcher’s Arms Eldersfield, a Michelin starred restaurant in a rustic setting only 15 minutes away. Need to book in advance as it is so popular.

Visit Hereford Cathedral with its recently commissioned Thomas Traherne chapel. The nearby Castle Hotel has a pretty courtyard garden overlooking the River Wye.

Cheltenham is only half an hour away with a plethora of festivals from which to choose – jazz, literary, science and racing among them.

Eastnor Castle has a deer park and Goodrich Castle is a more windswept affair.

Symonds Yat provides day-long canoeing excursions and there are many pubs built along the banks of the River Wye.

Ledbury is a lively market town, full of friendly shopkeepers. Once a year it holds a poetry festival in July.

Gloucester Cathedral is one of the finest medieval buildings in the country and the burial place of royalty.
